Our History
Integra Eyecare began with a single location in Burnaby in 2006, but its story was never about square footage. It was about challenging the model focused on volume, retail sales, and routine care. Patients were moved through quickly. Technology was often outdated. And deeper clinical needs were referred out rather than addressed directly.
We decided to build something different.
From day one, Integra invested in medical optometry. We brought in advanced diagnostics usually reserved for ophthalmology. We trained our team to manage ocular disease, dry eye, and complex visual conditions in-house. We carved out space for longer appointments and real conversations. And we built trust one patient at a time.
As demand grew, so did our clinic. But growth never came at the cost of our values. Every decision was intentional. We added new technologies, but only when they improved outcomes. We built partnerships with local specialists, not to send patients away, but to create a circle of care that was stronger and more collaborative.
A new chapter
In 2017, we opened our second location in Vancouver. This wasn’t just expansion. It was evolution. The Vancouver clinic became a launchpad for dry eye innovation, with a dedicated suite for diagnostics and therapies that were still rare in private practice. We integrated research directly into clinical workflows. We partnered with medtech developers. We created our own protocols and data systems. And we began training other doctors in how to bring that level of care to their own practices.
