Dr. Austin Toresdahl brings a focused, clinical mindset to every exam room. With a strong foundation in ocular pathology and a passion for solving complex cases, he is known for his precision, discipline, and drive to push the boundaries of what optometrists can offer their patients.

Born in Santa Rosa, California, Dr. Toresdahl moved to Canada as a child and was raised in Southern Alberta and Saskatchewan, where he grew up in a ranching family. He earned his Honours Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Alberta before completing his Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. During his studies, he was actively involved in student organizations and participated in a mission trip to Senegal to provide eye care in underserved communities.

His clinical training took him through Calgary and Grande Prairie, where he gained hands-on experience with ocular trauma, pediatrics, and dry eye disease. After graduation, he practiced in Grande Prairie and later joined an ophthalmology clinic in Chicago, where he deepened his understanding of ocular disease, perioperative management, and subspecialty co-management. He worked alongside surgeons in cornea, retina, uveitis, oculoplastics, and pediatric ophthalmology, building expertise that continues to shape his approach today.

Dr. Toresdahl has a particular interest in ocular surface disease and specialty contact lenses, including scleral and custom designs for keratoconus and irregular corneas. He stays at the leading edge of dry eye innovation and has lectured to optometrists on the clinical use of amniotic membranes as part of a modern therapeutic toolkit.
