Dr. Daniela Albuquerque
Daniela played a key role in the first radiofrequency study for dry eye patients and helped shape the development of the world’s first ocular handpiece for RF therapy through her clinical insight and precision. Her impact on the field goes far beyond the exam room.
At Integra, she is the heart behind the scenes; training staff, guiding operations, and constantly raising the bar. As Chief Operating Officer and Clinic Director of both Integra Vancouver and Burnaby, Dr. Albuquerque brought a strong medical foundation to the clinic’s patient experience. She helped design systems that are still in place today, ensuring every decision is rooted in clinical integrity and patient-first care.
And then there is the side of Daniela her family, friends, and colleagues know best. A proud mother and a true role model, she lights up any room she walks into. She loves dancing, boating, exploring new places, and spoiling her two beloved cats, Alvin and Snowie. She speaks Portuguese and English fluently, and is currently adding Spanish to her growing list of languages.
Smart, grounded, compassionate, and endlessly driven, Dr. Daniela Albuquerque is more than just a leader. She is the soul of Integra.
Behind every great clinic is someone quietly making everything run beautifully. For Integra Eyecare, that person is Dr. Daniela Albuquerque.
Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Dr. Albuquerque graduated summa cum laude in Ophthalmology from the University of Brazil (UFRJ) and quickly earned recognition for her dedication to research, innovation, and patient care. Her passion for advancing eye care led her to develop expertise in contact lenses, glaucoma, and oculoplastic surgery, and she has authored several scientific papers and participated in groundbreaking studies, including one presented at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons Congress in Barcelona.
Although she is not licensed to provide optometric care in British Columbia, her presence continues to be felt in every detail of how Integra operates. Her leadership laid the groundwork for our success, and her vision helped shape the values we live by.
Outside of her clinical and operational roles, Daniela is a dedicated humanitarian. Together with her husband, Dr. Henry Reis, she co-founded a nonprofit organization to bring ophthalmologic care to underserved communities in Rio. Through special campaigns, they have provided countless free consultations and surgeries, and she continues to support NGOs like the Foundation Fighting Blindness and the Third World EyeCare Society through fundraising, event planning, and donations of eyewear and equipment.
