Dr. Henry Reis

As founder of AI4Eyes, Dr. Reis spent seven years developing the first AI-powered diagnostic tool for dry eye disease, leading the company through its early clinical and technical milestones before stepping down to focus on patient care and education. He is also the creator of a dry eye management algorithm designed to help doctors around the world deliver consistent, evidence-based care.

Dr. Reis has led the adoption of numerous technologies in Canadian eye care. He was the first in North America to use bipolar radiofrequency for dry eye therapy, working closely with developers to bring the first ocular RF handpiece to market. He introduced the Optimas platform to eye care in 2018, becoming the first provider in Western Canada to offer Lumecca, Forma, and Morpheus treatments to his patients. He also played a key role in the introduction of the IRPL system to Canada and Brazil.

Dr. Henry Reis is a physician, optometrist, entrepreneur, and inventor known for blending clinical excellence with a collaborative spirit. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he graduated summa cum laude in Ophthalmology from the University of Brazil and went on to develop a deep interest in dry eyes, myopia management, glaucoma, and artificial intelligence. His early research projects earned him recognition in Brazil and abroad, including participation in landmark studies such as the Lucentis International Trial for wet macular degeneration.

Since arriving in Canada in 2013 with his wife, two cats, and twelve boxes, Dr. Reis has built a reputation as a thoughtful leader in Canadian optometry. He was named the 2025 Optometrist of the Year by the BC Doctors of Optometry, an award that recognizes not just his personal journey but also the values he brings to the profession: collaboration over competition, excellence without ego, and a deep belief in raising the bar for everyone.

He has lectured across North and South America and Europe on topics including dry eye disease, myopia management, and ocular surface diagnostics. He served as co-chair of the Cornea Section at the International Society for Eye Research Meeting in Australia, was part of the Faculty for the Canadian Dry Eye Summit, and contributed as Associate Editor of the CRO Journal. His impact on the profession continues to grow through mentorship, innovation, and a strong belief in knowledge-sharing.

Dr. Reis is the owner and medical director of the Integra Eyecare Network, which includes the original Burnaby clinic founded in 2006 and the newer flagship clinic in Vancouver, opened in 2023. Both clinics are known for their advanced diagnostic capabilities, research integration, and a commitment to delivering the kind of care doctors would want for their own families.

The entire Integra team is grateful to have Dr. Reis leading the way. His vision, humility, and unwavering commitment to better care have shaped not just how we practice, but why. Under his leadership, Integra continues to grow with purpose, driven by a deep belief that patients always come first.
