Dr. Maryam Askarpoor
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Askarpoor leads with purpose. She has a lifelong passion for improving access to eye care in underserved communities. As the former president of sVOSH during optometry school, she led a major outreach mission to the Philippines in 2019, providing free care to over 1,000 patients. She recently returned to the Philippines to lead another mission and remains deeply committed to global eye care initiatives. She also co-founded NOSA Waterloo, a student-led initiative focused on advancing ocular health among minority communities.
At Integra, she brings that same sense of mission into everything she does. Her patients feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for.
When she is not in the exam room, you will likely find her at an airport en route to another adventure. She is an accomplished travel influencer, a passionate martial artist (with training in taekwondo and krav maga), and somehow still finds time to explore local trails, waterfalls, and mountain views.
Dr. Askarpoor offers eye exams in English and Farsi and is currently learning Spanish so she can expand access even further.

Dr. Maryam Askarpoor is one of those rare doctors who patients instantly connect with. Known for her vibrant energy, clinical skill, and deep compassion, she has quickly become a patient favourite and a rising star at Integra Eyecare.
Born and raised in Maple Ridge, she moved to Vancouver to complete her Bachelor of Science at UBC before earning her Doctor of Optometry with distinction from the University of Waterloo. Her clinical rotations took her across Canada, including Calgary and Smithers, where she honed her skills in ocular disease, dry eye management, and emergency care. From foreign body removals to advanced dry eye therapy, she approaches every case with precision and care.
Dr. Askarpoor has a special interest in dry eye treatment, specialty contact lenses, and myopia control. She is experienced with advanced technologies including IPL, radiofrequency, and BlephEx, and takes the time to truly understand each patient’s symptoms before building a customized plan. Her care is modern, thorough, and always grounded in kindness.
