Dr. Melissa Nguyen

Dr. Melissa Nguyen believes good vision is about more than 20/20 on an eye chart. Seeing well depends on the eyes, brain, and body working together. When that teamwork breaks down, everyday tasks like reading and concentrating get harder than they should be. Dr. Nguyen is known for listening closely and putting patients of all ages at ease. She takes the time to get to the root of each person's visual challenges, whether that means helping a young student build confidence in the classroom or guiding an adult through a targeted vision training program. She wants every visit to feel engaging, educational, and stress-free.

Dr. Nguyen earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University. Her clinical rotations took her to a hospital serving Native American communities in Oklahoma, where she managed complex eye disease, and to San Diego, where she trained in specialized vision therapy. There she treated eye teaming, focusing, and eye movement problems such as convergence insufficiency, strabismus, and eye-tracking disorders, and provided visual rehabilitation for patients recovering from concussions and other traumatic brain injuries. After graduating, she returned home to British Columbia, where she now helps patients across the Lower Mainland with the functional vision problems that quietly get in the way of reading, learning, focus, and everyday comfort.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Nguyen makes the most of life in the Pacific Northwest. You'll find her exploring local hiking trails, snapping photos along the way, or chasing the next great roller coaster at the nearest theme park. She also loves discovering new food and coffee spots, especially anywhere with fresh seafood, and spending time with family and friends.
